Just few days after Google RSS reader interface setback,Google haspulled its iOS Gmail app just hours after it launched, citing a bug whichcrippled its functionality. How long will it take this company to realize thathalf baked products will always flop in the market? Google team said thatunfortunately, it contained a bug which broke notifications and caused users tosee an error message when first opening the app. Gmail twitter page carried aremorseful twit; "Sorry we messed up". The Gmail app for the iPhone,iPad and iPod touch was meant to be "one more reason to switch toGmail" according to Google team.
Gmail for iOS will be brought back "soon", but Google hasnot given a timeframe. When Google does re-release it, Gmail iOS should deliverpush notifications with alert sounds, autocomplete features from Gmail contactsor the device's address book, and a photo uploader. Google's explanationthat it removed the app due to a notifications bug was not the only problem, according to those who had time to test it out.
This is a massive disappointment for Google because now it meansall apple devices will have to wait.Gmail for iOS lacked the ability to addmultiple accounts, while other users complained it looked just like the Gmailweb interface. From the launch video,it was clear that it doesn't zip alonglike a native app does and doesn't update on the fly.I wonder what was thepoint of launching such a hastily developed app.Just like Lady Gaga songgoes,Google was born this way and they seem not to learn from past mistakes which has characterized their previous products like Google Buzz.
